Hannah 
Whisenant

writer & director

Hannah is a queer filmmaker born and raised in the Texas hill country, currently based in Brooklyn.

 

She is interested in blending documentary and narrative elements, while her filmmaking aims to subvert stereotypes and largely focuses on how relationships and oppressive systems impact the ways in which we navigate the world. She is particularly interested in stories of motherhood, sexuality, and how we process trauma or abuse. 

Her films have premiered at festivals such as SXSW, Lower East Side Film Festival, and Austin Film Festival (AFF) and online platforms such as NoBudge and Vimeo Staff Picks. Hannah studied filmmaking at the University of Texas and Austin and was selected as the Creative Culture Fall 2021 Gary Winick Visionary Narrative fellow at the Jacob Burns Film Center.
